Grill skewers – pure flexibility

July is barbecue season, we probably all agree on that

Summer, sun, pleasant warmth – it’s just nice to be outside. (Except maybe for my South Australian friends, where it is winter now. But in Australia it’s always barbecue season anyway)

Barbecuing is fun, especially in good company

And since everyone has a slightly different taste, the Grill skewers come in handy. They are as individual as we are. Everyone can put together their own.

This also means less work for the host, as everyone helps. And everything can be prepared nicely, so there is more time to have fun with the guests.

With these grill skewers, everyone gets their money’s worth

Here are some suggestions for what can be skewered:

  • Meat cut into squares
  • Meatballs finely seasoned
  • Haloumi
  • Barbecue cheese
  • Vegetables like eggplant, zucchini, peppers, tomatoes
  • Mushrooms
  • Spring onions
  • Garlic (lightly precooked in water)
  • Ginger slices
  • Chicken
  • Tofu

Of course, you can also skewer fruit, between the meat or vegetables. But I would like to save the fruit for sweet fruit skewers for dessert.

Metal, bamboo, or wooden skewers are suitable as skewers

Especially tasty are skewers made of lemongrass, which gives off their fresh aroma on the barbecue.

However, as the lemongrass stalks are somewhat thicker, the food must be “pre-drilled”.

Then add a fine marinade – some oil and spices – and put it on the grill.

A homemade dip sauce is suitable for this

Here is a simple recipe for it:

  • 200 g crème fraîche
  • 2 tablespoons spice (Cajun, outback, herb butter mix, paprika, curry, etc.)
  • salt to taste

Mix everything well together et voilà!

The barbecue fun can begin!
