Quick date appetizers
At Christmas, you may have gotten an assortment of dried fruits. With figs, plums, apricots, dates, and nuts. And of those, you may have dates left over that you don’t quite know what to do with. Here I have a simple and tasty idea.
These date appetizers are easy to make, and you can prepare them well in advance. They’re so quick to make, you’ll be able to finish them in time even if you have a spontaneous visitor.
All you need is three ingredients and a spice of your choice. I used voatsiperifery pepper today. It tastes intensely peppery, woody, and warm.
But you can use any other pepper or a spice blend like Cajun, Outback, or Nasi-Goreng.

For four people:
Date-Cream-Cheese-Bacon Appetizers
Ingredients
- 12 – 16 dates
- 50 g cream cheese
- 12 – 16 slices of bacon
- spice of your choice
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180 °C
- Mix the cream cheese well with the spice of your choice
- Cut the dates open on one side and remove the stone (the dates must still hold together on one side)
- Fill dates with cream cheese
- Wrap dates with a slice of bacon and place on a baking tray covered with baking paper
- Bake dates in the oven for about 20 minutes
